A message from Dover District Council

A brief message from the Chief Executive of Dover District Coucil

For over 2000 years Dover has been the key location between Britain and markets in Europe. Its

strategic location at the hub of a sophisticated communications network enhances the ability of

companies to trade and prosper.

The highly geared sea transportation and port operations in Dover give a competitive and quality

serrvice, while the nearby Eurotunnel Shuttle service and the International Passenger Station

increase the options available for links with the major centres of mainland Europe.

New flagship opportunities are a major draw for investors with the potential of the White Cliffs

Business Park, Old Park and Western Docks developments in Dover and the former Royal

Marines site in Deal.

Already the district is home to a range of quality companies and organisations - P&O European

Ferries, Pfizer, Arjo Wiggins, London Fancy Box, to name but a few. Their choice of location was

based on appraisal of the various alternatives but a lower cost base, availability of labour and

training, the strategic location near home and overseas markets, the availability of capital grants

and the support of this District Council were the right combination of factors to encourage them to

set up in the area.

Employers find that the district has other advantages too. It has an attractive environment in

which to work and live, offering a refreshingly different lifestyle.

Our common aim is economic growth by assisting local businesses and by attracting new

investment, which itself stimulates our economy through local purchasing. I hope you find this

directory useful.
