Introduction
This page gives you a brief summary of the immigration requirements you need to meet to be able to live in New Zealand. It is designed to enable you to decide if you wish to obtain the full Immigration Guide necessary to make an application for residence in New Zealand.

Residence in New Zealand
Under the Immigration Act 1987, every person who wishes to immigrate to New Zealand needs to apply for residence. Residence entitles you to live, study and work indefinitely in New Zealand.
If you wish to leave New Zealand temporarily, you must have a valid returning resident’s visa in your passport to ensure your re-entry to New Zealand as a resident. You will be issued your first returning resident’s visa when residence is approved.
New Zealand Citizenship Enquiries
In New Zealand, residence and citizenship are different. If you are granted residence, you retain your original citizenship, and may apply for New Zealand citizenship later.
The NZIS does not administer citizenship law. Enquiries about New Zealand citizenship and passports should be addressed to the Department of Internal Affairs or the appropriate section of a New Zealand consular or diplomatic office.
A. General Skills Category
The General Skills category is a points system. Applicants score points for a number of factors such as qualifications, work experience and age.
B. Business and Investor Category
Business Category -
The objective of the business immigration policy is to attract migrants who will contribute to New Zealand’s economic growth by increasing the country’s skills base, encourage enterprise and innovation and foster international linkages through the:
- Investor category;
- Long-term Business Visa (Temporary);
- Entrepreneur category; and
- Category for Employees of Relocating Businesses to New Zealand.
Investor Category - Applicants applying under the Investor Category are assessed by a points system based upon a structure that awards points for age, business experience and investment funds. If you score less than the passmark, your application will be declined.
C. Entrepreneur Category
The Entrepreneur category is available to those applicants who:
- Have successfully established a business in New Zealand; and
- The business is benefiting New Zealand in some way.
D. Employees of Businesses Relocating to New Zealand
This category is available to those applicants who do not qualify for residence under any existing categories. Applicants must demonstrate that they are a key employee of a business relocating to New Zealand.
E. Family Category
The Family category is available to those applicants who:
- Are in a genuine and stable marriage or de facto relationship with a New Zealand citizen or resident; or
- Have immediate family members who are New Zealand citizens or residents and who live permanently in New Zealand.
F. Humanitarian Category
The Humanitarian category is available to those applicants:
- Who have the support of a close family member who is a New Zealand citizen or residence permit holder; and
- Whose circumstances are causing serious physical harm or serious emotional harm to the applicant or a New Zealand party that can only be resolved by the applicant being granted residence in New Zealand.

Our Costs
The total cost for New Zealand Permanent Residence Visa service is US$ 1500. To register with us you will need to pay a deposit of US$ 500 for our administration costs, then US$ 1000 when your Permanent Resident (Immigrant) Visa is ready for collection. The above costs include sending you the New Zealand visa guide and application with further instructions, submitting your application for processing, making the necessary visa issuance and collection arrangements, answering your visa related queries, and covering all administration, legal and government costs, related to your visa. In other words we take care of everything until your visa is issued and collected by you.
Our fees are low as they have recently been discounted due to improvements in our relationship with the immigration authorities and in our services, for which we are grateful to our sponsors, who have helped us computerize more of our work and keep our presence on the Internet.We have tried to spread the costs in a step by step gradual payments like the process of issuing of your Immigrant Visa / Permanent Residence itself, which we believe you will find very reasonable.
You can stop using our services at any stage explained above, in which case we can not guarantee that your application will be successful.It takes 6 months ±2 weeks to obtain New Zealand immigration visa (permanent residence) from the time we receive your completed application forms, which we will send you when you register with us, and after 3 years from the time you enter New Zealand you could apply for citizenship.
